About the Author

�

Christoffer Carlsson (b. 1986) has a PhD in criminology from The Department of Criminology at Stockholm University. His main field of work is life-course criminology, where he has published extensively. In 2012, he received the European Society of Criminology's Young Criminologist Award for his work on turning points and desistance processes.

Jerzy Sarnecki (b. 1947) came to Sweden from Warzaw, Poland as a refugee in 1969. He has a PhD in sociology from Stockholm University (1978) and is Professor of criminology at Stockholm University and University of G�vle. He has done extensive research on youth crime, criminal networks, and criminal policy, and is the author of several textbooks in criminology. Having worked on The Stockholm Life-Course Project since the late 1970s, Sarnecki has been the project director for the 2nd and 3rd waves of the study. He is also co-chair of the jury for the prestigious Stockholm Prize in Criminology.

Love them all!

I have the entire set of these books and love them all. The fact that everything is reprintable is such a valuable addition to any teachers library. So many books are offered like these, but when you get them they will have many pages in bold color which doesn't reprint with any kind of quality. These are clear, full size, and perfect for in-class worksheets. All kinds of great ideas to help you plan ahead of time and even covers the holidays that one might forget about until they are upon you and it's too late to squeeze into an already busy class curriculum. Highly Recommended!

Lots of reproducible ideas and creative activities for January.

The book begins with a day-by-day list of all the celebrations throughout the month (not only the famous ones but others as well...do you know when oil was discovered in Texas?), and then a reproducible calendar for the classroom with clip art of symbols to place on the calendar.

January idea book contains reproducibles for the following topics: Winter Activities (including a wordsearch, science experiments, a Math Snowman wheel, snowman patterns, bookmarks, pencil toppers, awards, certificates, etc), Around the Year (which contains a cut out desktop calendar to assemble, a shape book, monthly reports, monthly clip art), New Year's Day (a word search, a shape book, happy new year visor), Chinese New Year (a chinese zodiac poster, a fish-shaped kite, a board game, banner, tangram activities, lined paper, and more), Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (bulletin board displays, a mobile, a report form), Eskimos (word search, eskimo report, totem pole), and Arctic and Antarctic animals (puppets, stand-up figures, maps, booklets, lined paper, and more).

Fredrick Long is Professor of New Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary and has authored numerous essays and books including Kairos Greek: A Beginning Greek Grammar and forthcoming commentaries on Ephesians and 2 Corinthians. His research interests include ancient rhetoric, classical Greek, discourse analysis, imperial criticism and Pauline studies. T. Michael W. Halcomb is a PhD candidate (New Testament) at Asbury Theological Seminary. He is published in a number of academic journals and presents often at academic conferences. His interests include social-scientific criticism, performance criticism, cultural-anthropological criticism, the intersection of popular culture and religion, and Markan and Pauline studies.

One-Stop Resource for Biblical and Research Languages

Frederick J. Long, Professor of New Testament at Asbury Seminary, and PhD candidate (Asbury Seminary, N.T.), T. Michael W. Halcomb, have combined to edit an invaluable resource for scholars, seminarians, or anyone who wishes to enhance their language acquisition with the first volume in their Hexapla series: A Parallel and Interlinear New Testament Polyglot: Luke-Acts.

The format of the Gospel of Luke follows an interlinear format while the Book of Acts is in parallel format. The type-set here is remarkably clean and easy to follow. It is clear that great care was at a premium in making this source aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Moreover, Long and Halcomb have succeeded in bringing together difficult-to-find French, German, Latin, and Hebrew texts of the NT along with updating the ASV with regard to English idioms.

A word of suggestion to the reader: Please read the introduction (iii-iv)! One can make sense of the work without it, but contextual information on the versions used, textual variances, and the goals of the work as outlined by the editors is invaluable for understanding the resource placed in the reader's hands.

Long and Halcomb's Polyglot on Luke-Acts will be put to good use in my case as it will enhance all the languages I need to have if and when PhD studies become a reality. So I say to all serious students, `Tolle,lege!'

Excellent for language study

This is almost perfect for my desire to study various languages. I had worked on a similar project on my own for a while, but this is easier to access. It does use older textual versions, but thay are strong traditions and the basis of much of Christian tradition in those languages.

funny, has good moral stories

My 8 year old was introduced to David Williams when a friend of mine bought her Mr Stink. She likes books but is not crazy about reading. She, however, couldn't put down Mr Stink the moment she laid her hand on it. I bought the entire set of David Williams. I have never seen her read so ferociously. She finished the entire set in about 2 weeks, considering she has never read a book thicker than 200 pages before! The books are very engaging, funny, has good moral stories, and teach good lessons. Great books!

My grandson was very happy with my choice of books for his birthday. David Walliams has just the right kind of humour for children and the stories are not too long that the children get bored. I will certainly purchase more of his books for my grandchildren. Simple and easy with Amazon!
