One of Crane's best short stories, The Blue Hotel, is in this collection. The author of The Red Badge of Courage can really tell a good story with a lot of color. It's free--down load it and enjoy offline like I did.

Crane's stories are as entertaining and full as his poetry.

Before I knew Stephen Crane as a writer, I knew his works of poetry. I was fascinated by the brevity and depth of the prose poetry he penned. From there I grew to admire hims as a writer. This is a very good collection of some of his lesser known works but were excellent just the same. And for anyone who has never read his poetry, please download some of the free books and be prepared for whole new experience in poetry. You will not be sorry you did.

About the Author
Michelle L. Murray, PhD, RNC, is an international educator, author, and expert in obstetric nursing. Dr. Murray's company, Learning Resources International, Inc. produces clinical and educational products and seminars for labor and delivery nursing and midwives. Since 1986, more than 50,000 obstetric care providers, including nurses, physicians, and midwives, have participated in Dr. Murray's classes and seminars. Her work has been published in journals such as Birth: Issues in Perinatal Care; The American Journal of Maternal Child Nursing (MCN); the Journal of Perinatololgy; the Journal of Nursing Care Quality; and, the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN). Dr. Murray was also a contributor to the AWHONN publication Nursing Management of the Second Stage of Labor. Her best-selling books include Antepartal and Intrapartal Fetal Monitoring (3rd ed.) and Essentials of Fetal Monitoring (3ed ed.).||Gayle Huelsmann, BSN, RNC, is certified in inpatient obstetrics and holds a certificate of advanced qualification in electronic fetal monitoring from the National Certification Corp., Chicago. She has been an antepartal nurse and a labor and delivery nurse for 29 years. She was also maternal air transport nurse with fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft. A very incomplete, but interesting book

This book is very good at showing how basic fracture mechanics can be used to understand real fatigue and fracture problems in construction grade steels. The down side to this book is that the authors tend to promote their point of view and give little attention to other points of view. For example the authors spend numerous pages on their CVN to fracture toughness prediction method, yet give the master curve method only a few sentences, and ignore most of the other 20 some CVN to fracture toughness prediction methods that can be found in the literature. The reader might want to also keep in mind the most of the information in this book is based on late 1980's technology in the U.S. construction steel industry.

Mechanical and aerospace fatigue/fracture engineers will probably not find much useful information in this book.

A "practicing engineer's" Fracture Mechanics!

This is an excellent book for the practicing engineer who wants to use fracture mechanics to solve fracture and fatigue problems used in industry today. The author explains fracture mechanics and fatigue in terms the practicing engineer uses on a daily basis. For example, different material properties used in fracture mechanics are compared to Hook's Law, yield strength, and tensile strength, material properites common to structural engineers.
Also, the author gives precise definitions of fracture and fatigue, how it can be used during the design phase, why structures fail structurally, and how to use fracture and fatigue analysis to solve these real-life problems.

Great text for understanding mechanics of fatigue and fracture

The book has great technical development and case studies demonstrating the mechanics of fatigue and fracture failure. It is an essential resource for recognizing fatigue and fracture details and how to mitigate them.
